(a) 30 minutes to 1.5 hours
(b) 40 cm to 1.5 m
(c) 55 paise to Re 1
(d) 500 ml to 2 litres

Answers

The two quantities are not in the same unit. So, We can only find ratio here by

converting them in same units.

It is always easy to convert into smaller of unit

(a) 30 minutes to 1.5 hour

1.5 hours = 1.5 × 60 = 90 minutes [∵ 1 hour = 60 minutes]

Now, ratio of 30 minutes to 1.5 hour = 30 minutes ∶ 1.5 hour

⇒ 30 minutes ∶ 90 minutes = 1 ∶ 3

(b) 40 cm to 1.5 m

1.5 m = 1.5 × 100 cm = 150 cm [∵ 1 m = 100 cm]

Now, ratio of 40 cm to 1.5 m = 40 cm ∶ 1.5 m

⇒ 40 cm ∶ 150 cm = 4 ∶ 15

Re. 1 = 100 paisa

Now, ratio of 55 paisa to Re. 1 = 55 paisa ∶ 100 paisa

⇒ 11 ∶ 20

(d) 500 ml to 2litres

2 litres = 2 × 1000 ml = 2000 ml [∵ 1 litre = 1000 ml]

Now, ratio of 500 ml to 2litres = 500 ml ∶ 2litres

⇒ 500 ml ∶ 2000 ml = 1 ∶ 4
