The surface of which of these planets is not solid ?
(a) Jupiter(b) Mars (c) Venus (d) Mercury
The planets in our solar system are divided into inner planets ( mercury, venus, earth, mars) and outer planets (jupiter, uranus, neptune and saturn). All the outer planets do not have a solid surface and they have a liquid metal core.
This is because there is absence of transition between gaseous (atmosphere) and solid phase. The environment gets denser as we move to the core and pressure increases being highest at the core.
