Write the products of hydrolysis of lactose. CBSE- Class12- Chemistry 2014
CBSE- Class12- Chemistry 2014
Lactose is a disaccharide sugar composed of galactose and glucose that is found in milk. Lactose makes up around 2–8% of milk, although the amount varies among species and individuals, and milk with a reduced amount of lactose also exists.

Lactose is composed of β-D galactose and β-D glucose.
Thus, on hydrolysis, it gives β-D galactose and β-D glucose.
