INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF INDIA
History
The Insurance Institute of India (Regd.) formerly known as Federation of Insurance Institutes (J.C. Setalvad Memorial) (Regd.) was established in the year 1955, for the purpose of promoting Insurance Education & Training in the country. The Institute is a professional body serving the cause of the Insurance Industry. The Institute conducts examinations at three levels: Licentiate, Associateship and Fellowship as also examinations – Certificate in Foundations of Casualty Actuarial Science (General Insurance) and Certificate in Insurance Salesmanship.
I.I.I. is the only professional insurance institute in India and is a chartered member in the Institute of Global Insurance Education (IGIE). (www.igie.org).
Membership
The
membership of the Institute is through associated Institutes. There are
at present 91 Associated Institutes spread all over the country. The
Sri Lanka Insurance Institute, The Sri Lanka Insurance Academy and The
R.I.C.B. Insurance Institute, Bhutan are the affiliated Institutes
outside India. The members of the Associated Institutes and the
Affiliated Institutes automatically become the members of the Institute.
The Life Insurance Corporation of India, The General Insurance
Corporation of India, The New India Assurance Company Ltd., The Oriental
Insurance Company Ltd., National Insurance Company Ltd., and United
India Insurance Company Ltd. are corporate members.
